Antique William Kerr Art Nouveau Sterling Gilded Griffins and Rhodolite Garnet Pendant
This amazing art nouveau sterling silver pendant from renowned New Jersey silversmith William Kerr started life as a belt buckle. A rare design, this repousse' piece features extremely detailed gilded griffins. The ornate pendant is embellished with three sparkling raspberry rhodalite garnets. Both the gilding and gemstone accents are unusual for his pieces. This pendant started life as a buckle, but along the way was converted to a pendant. I have worn this to rare reviews. I don't believe the bale is sterling, but I feel this piece deserves a more ornate bale anyway. The pendant measures 2 by 1 3/4". It is signed with the hatchet mark of William Kerr, sterling, and the inventory number 368.
