Antique Victorian Scottish Agate Sterling Buckle Brooch
This enchanting brooch hails from the mid to late 1800's when Queen Victoria became enamored with all things Scottish, especially the "pebble" jewelry. The brooch is sterling silver ( unmarked and tested) and set with banded agate and jasper in an engraved silver setting. It is embellished with a silver buckle ( garter) on the left side. If you look bottom right on the brooch, you can see what appears to be a separated stone..but the edges are smooth, and the stones are secure, so I have no idea if it was originally this way. The brooch has a tube hinge and open c-clasp and has no makers marks. It measures 1 1/2 by 1 1/4".
