Antique Victorian Sterling Silver Buckle Brooch
This stunning antique Victorian buckle brooch is crafted in sterling silver. Victorian jewelry was very symbolic, with hidden meanings. The buckle represented strength and an unbreakable bond. These pieces were given as love tokens or in memory of a loved one who passed away. This lovely brooch measures 1 1/4 by 1 3/8". It dates from the late 1800's. The brooch catch is a tube hinge with open c-clasp which holds quite securely. There is a small area where the side of the brooch has pushed in a little on the tube hinge side. It does not effect the structure of the brooch, but this is an old piece and has obviously been worn and loved. I have not polished it, I will leave any polishing to the new owner. The brooch is unmarked and has acid tested as sterling silver.
