Vintage Trifari Clip Mates Brooch Dress Clips
This stunning art deco Clip Mates brooch from Trifari dates from 1936-1938. The brooch features two individual dress clips attached to a slide mechanism to form one brooch, or divide to wear as a pair of clips, an innovative design for the times. The mechanism works well. Many of the tiny rhinestones have darkened with age, common on these pieces, but there is still an amazing amount of sparkle! The rhinestones are all original to the piece. The brooch measures 2 7/8 by 1 1/4", with each individual clip measuring 1 3/8 by 1 1/4". The brooch is marked Trifari, Pat No 2050804 and Clip Mates. The design was patented by Alfred Philippe.
