The copper base is embellished with ornate brass work and accented with a white metal. The design is fun and dimensional with a brutalist flair! Matisse "California Dreamin'" Green and Rust Copper Enamel Necklace: This wonderful vintage copper enamel necklace from Matisse is called Californa Dreamin' and is from the mid 1950's. A subsidiary of Renoir of California (1946-1964), Matisse was established in 1952. The necklace features a lovely scalloped crescent design, enameled in deep green and rusty red with interesting copper stations between each fluid curve. The necklace is in excellent condition. The necklace laid flat is adjustable to 18". It is not signed, sometimes only the earrings were, but is definitely a Matisse piece.

The brooch is huge, measuring 4 1/4 by 1 3/4". The matching clip back earrings measure 2 by 7/8", and have two brushes. All pieces are signed Matisse (c). The enamel has no chips or cracks on the brooch, and one small surface chip on one earring. This set can be found in Burkholt'z "Copper Art Jewelry" on pages 102 and 137.
